Crown Reduction

CROWN REDUCTION

The outer branches or parts of the outer branches are cut back, this is sometimes an essential practice when, the tree is near to overhead power lines or telephone cables. Crown reduction can give a tree a more natural appearance, reduce stress on a tree, and increase the time span between prunings.

TOPPING AND TIPPING

Sometimes to reduce the height of a tree, ‘Topping’ is used. The large upright branches between twig nodes are pruned. The practice of cutting the lateral branches to reduce crown width is called ‘Tipping’
